Estonia became a member state of the EU in 2004. Six daily newspapers, a plethora of weekly papers and magazines, three domestic television channels and over 20 radio stations serve the population of 1.36 million. The national structure of the country is made up of two relatively detached communities – ethnic Estonians (927,000) and a Russian-speaking community.
